Code of conduct

Challenge systems and ideas rigorously. Treat people generously.

Our commitment

NAITS is committed to providing a welcoming, safe, and harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of background, identity, experience, appearance, or level of formal education.

Technical disagreement is welcome. Personal attacks, intimidation, and exclusion are not.

Expected behavior

  • Be curious, respectful, and generous with context.
  • Critique ideas and systems without demeaning the people discussing them.
  • Ask before photographing, recording, or sharing another person’s work or identity.
  • Respect confidentiality, responsible disclosure boundaries, venue rules, and applicable law.
  • Stop when someone asks you to stop.

Unacceptable behavior

Harassment, discriminatory conduct, threats, deliberate intimidation, unwanted sexual attention, sustained disruption, doxxing, and encouraging irresponsible access to systems or data are not accepted in NAITS spaces.

Security research

Discussion of offensive techniques is part of the community. Demonstrations must use systems and data you own or are explicitly authorized to test. Do not bring live credentials, personal data, undisclosed vulnerabilities, or material that puts other people at risk.

Reporting and enforcement

Organizer reporting details will be published before the first event and pinned in Discord. Organizers may warn participants, stop a discussion or demonstration, remove someone from an event or online space, or prohibit future participation when needed to protect the community.

If there is an immediate safety concern, contact venue staff or local emergency services first.
